for the dutch navy all you need is a man with clogs on a raft with a musket

looking at your origin, i wonder how that could be...
Let's say one thing the dutch navy has more victories in history than the german! and than those stupid steel monsters appeared

Btw: those ships are great, BUT TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT!!!

But, it would run into your new pictures, which is also not good. So, shrink the pictures a little, and all is good.
kronoss might have fixed that although i havent looked into that yet since it was always a minor matter too me.

Alone I have contributed with a poor solution. Bonzo,s proposal is better. Perhaps the next week have the game, then I will be able to work better on this matter.

Superb ships hannibal.

geez now that sucks. makes completing japanese / british sets much more difficult since there are hardly any blueprints/schematics of their ships around. then again i can do the stuff more freely since those ships arent even listed with original names in hoi2. besides atomic powered ships dont look much different than the late convential powered ones.

Hmm, perhaps.

I tried resizing a few of them down by 25% - just a quick and dirty thing to see how it would look. At 66 x 33 they were still pretty good. Obviously they would need a little cleaning (mostly the lettering I found) but as in most cases pictures this small are mostly made up of creative blurs anyway, so detail is rather subjective!

But YMMV.

3. These pictures are also way larger than the other unit pictures which also is also a little weird, so again I recommend shrinking them down a bit to keep them on par with the rest.

what other pictures? obviously naval icons cant use the same format as ground/air units do.

I do mean the ground/ air units. Yes, the formats won't be the same, but by making the naval pictures twice as wide as the others, they look 'out of place'. A little larger is okay, but significantly larger 'looks funny'.

At least to me. I always look at the entire effect, so I notice things like that.

Mind you, when I'm doing the graphical layout for reports at work, I notice if a piece of text is offset by as little as 1 point compared to the pieces arouind it, so I may just be anal about that sort of thing.

As I said, this is just my nickle. If you are happy with them as is, so be it.

completed the nihon kaigun (japanese navy) set. havent checked it yet ingame since i was too lazy to modify a scenario yet, is there a cheat to get all techs and complete all queued units? would make things easier

Edit: deleted outdated preview since an updated one is now always on the front page

playing around with the oilicon again, back to using the old oildrop. made it a bit smaller and thats the best solution i can come up with. its still not elegant but atleast the air attack value is readable.

Is good, but some air units have 2 digits in the air attack, then they move from position. Not hidden none?

genius as i am, i just had an idea how we could gain a few more pixels and maybe use your barrel... simply instead of using the oil_no_oil icon we draw the barrel on the background (plate_division.bmp) and use the oil no oil icon for the barrels filling (blue for oil/orange fo no oil).

and get the game kronoss

I don't have just understood as that would function. If we draw the barrel on the background, we should situate it above the numbers, to avoid problems. But as to change it al adequate color?

I believe that the Spanish version of the HoI2 will be available this week.

try to post your previews in png format or gif, this will produce much better quality at same size

kronoss, i believed i could gain a view pixels to the right by just drawing them on the background bar, here is an example that should illutstrate it. it also shows why it doesnt work; some groundunits dont need oil and hoi2 uses the same plate for ground/naval units . only the one for airunits is different. also note that i modified the plate for ground/naval units a bit to make all ships fit in. how does the oildrop at the bottom look? at least it wouldnt interfere with the numbers at all.

besides i wanted to add some icons (like a sword with an eagle for airattack, a shield with a ship for navaldefence and so on) to help people identifying what the numbers are for without having to highlight them to get the tooltip. but without a seperate plate for naval icons that wouldnt be possible as well.

@nighty. i was gonna post screens of all ships ingame anyway, the preview is just there to show what i have already done, no use in making it hq when it still got the rather ugly green background.
